Un-Glitch version 0.8: three new stages
Hi all!
After some minor bug fixes and and content additions Un-Glitch is near-finalized. In version 0.8 I experiment with some of the prospective content I mentioned in the previous devlog. First of all, I made level selection more compact to navigate through nine -instead of six- stages.
The new (final three) stages incorporate previous elements and add two more mechanics:
a) NPCs that move around with some basic AI and also fix glitches and buildings. You can take advantage of them a little as meatshields, but they are mostly meant to make the game harder by being obstacles (though they do try to move away if you bump into them) and by turning into hazardous glitches when they "die", at which point they create tricky situations. Balancing stage design to account for the many unpredictive elements of NPCs was hard, but at the end I think I got it down to a challenging but satisfactory experience.
b) Command towers that create lazer projectiles. These indicate visually how close they are to shooting and can be snoozed by touching them. This last option is what elevates them beyond a generic design, and ties them organically with the theme of the game.
