Beta 3.5 Changelog
This release focuses on aesthetic and card design changes to make the game more engaging.
Card design
- Changed Investigator to gain both attack and health depending on the number of Occult in the board
- Made Spider and Deep Frost to induce their respective cooldowns, even if the result would exceed the card's max cooldown. This makes delaying effects actually playable.
- Changed the concept of "Test" cards (e.g. "Test Subject", "Flest Test") where "Test" was a crude shortening of the word "Experiment" to "Ersatz" (meaning: made or used as a substitute). This makes these cards look and sound much cooler. Unfortunately, this means that previous saves will crash the game. Some cards related of original experiment series are drastically renamed to make more sense under the new wording, e.g. "Experiment Subject" -> "Test Subject" -> "Ersatz Life"
- Phoenix Egg now has 4 cooldown to make up of the effort of turning it into the 5 cooldown Phoenix.
- Rebalanced abomination to not be an Ersatz card.
- Added a Boomeraze as a 1 delay 0/1 construct that gives 1 attack to no-type allies when played. Its weaker than the Sword in that it's not easy to get multiple uses out of it, but it guarantees buffing, as it happens when played and not if it survives the clash.
- Added a 2/3 Demolition Maniac on 1 delay. The catch is that it deals 3 damage to something that has 3 or more health, which can be the king or other maniacs. This card has a lot of potential for being super busted, but there's no harm in trying these stats out.
- Added a 1/2 Restless Undead on 1 delay, which strikes first but loses health every time it kills something. This competes with Elite in many decks but is functionally different in that it's better against 1/2 and 1/3 cards but worse against 1/1s.
- Made King of Devouring's ability to trigger on-play. This makes it potentially better in , but the main goal was to allow this king to be played fluently without pausing to see when to click again, as it's usually meant to be repeatedly played in decks that use it.
- Spiderbot is now an Ersatz Construct. There's a consideration to be made that this can prove to be too potent with the Ersatz theme of gaining max life and it will be actively monitored.
- An important change is that now players will start with 100 gold (which are worth 20 booster packs - reminder that more gold can be obtained only through grinding and that this is not a monetized game).
Presentation
- Changed ability wording from "foe" to "opponent" to designate clash opponents.
- Card layout now groups abilities with the same triggers into one ability.
- Hovering over cards makes them larger than before, whereas ability texts are scaled to be smaller (overall, they also become larger in hovered cards). This makes cards nicer to look.
- Added more tutorial examples.
- Added a preconstructed deck focuses on just playing Boars and Giant Spiders to cater to players that don't like complex decision making (the deck is not weaker).
- Updated card backs and several ability icons to make them more noticeable.
